Pickleball

A pair of pickleball players
Pickleball players “on the road” (from the November CURRENTS)
The Creekside Pickleball Players made two field trips this fall. We wanted to experience playing on a regulation pickleball court where the net is lower than a tennis net and the court tends to be enclosed. Since we are used to playing on striped tennis courts, the pickleball courts appeared to be much smaller. It was great having the courts fenced in, less chasing after balls!
Our first trip was to Lucchesi Park in Petaluma. It is a beautiful park with a huge pond full of ducks. The park has a playground, tennis courts, walking paths and four dedicated pickleball courts - all open to the public. The courts were half full, so our group played for about 90 minutes, followed by a wonderful lunch at a nearby restaurant.
Our second trip was to Hill Pickleball Courts in Novato. This 12-acre recreation area has recently opened. They have six beautiful lighted bocce courts, six pickleball courts, soccer and baseball fields, chess and checker tables along with Hill Gymnasium and the Margaret Todd Center (a Senior Citizen Center). All facilities are open to the public. The courts were busy, but we managed to obtain a court, and had a great time.
All skill levels are welcome. We meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 am, and Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 am.
Come join us
Pickleball is a paddle sport which combines elements of tennis, racquetball and ping pong. The rules are fairly
simple, but you can make the game challenging, fast paced and competitive as you become more experienced. It's easy to learn and great exercise for your mind and body; it encourages one to work on balance, reflexes, and hand-and-eye coordination without placing too much strain on the body. More importantly, pickleball allows people to bond and form friendships. We meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 a.m. We supply all the equipment. When there are more than four players, we play a round robin.
If you are looking for a fun, addictive sport and a great workout, join the Creekside Pickleball Players!
